Before Club Penguin was released, a free online game called Penguin Chat was made by Rsnail. Penguin Chat was very similar to Club Penguin and was made before it in 2000. Penguin Chat was a free game but was limited in features which are available on Club Penguin. In 2005 Penguin Chat was closed down.
Workers from Penguin Chat including Rsnail, and many others worked together to create Club Penguin.
Beta Test Party (October 24, 2005) – The first party on club penguin was launched for 2 hours on October 2005. Beta hats were given out to penguins who helped beta test for club penguin. Beta hats are considered the rarest items in all of Club Penguin. They will never return, and were only given to penguins who tested Club Penguin.
Halloween Party (October 27, 2005) – The first club penguin Halloween party took place. No free items were given out during this party.
Server Testing (December 5, 2005) – Club Penguin held its first server testing. Penguins who tested were able to login to club penguin and get the black and pink toques.
Christmas Party (December 22, 2005) – During Club Penguin’s first Christmas party, two items were given out. They were the Santa hat, and the Christmas scarf.
Winter Luau (January 27, 2006) – The Winter Luau was the first party of 2006 on club penguin. The red Hawaiian lei was given away.
Valentines Day Party (February 9, 2006) – An unofficial party on Club Penguin. The red sunglasses, and bowtie were given away.
Pizza Parlor Opening Party (March 22, 2006) – The Pizza Parlor was released. Pizza aprons and pizza hats were given away to penguins there.
Saint Patrick’s Day Party (March 17, 2006) – The Penguin Band was introduced during this party. The Saint Patrick’s Day Hat was given away.
April Fools’ Day Party (April 1, 2006) – Many things on Club Penguin were switched around. The red propeller cap was given away.
Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt (April 16, 2006) – The pink bunny ears were given away. Penguins had to find all the eggs in the scavenger hunt to get the ears.
Mine Party (May 26, 2006) – The first member party on Club Penguin. The mine was opened and mining caps were given away.
Summer Party (June 16, 2006) – Club Penguin had its first summer party. The blue Hawaiian lei, inflatable duck, and whistle were all given away.
Western Party (July 6, 2006) – The bandanna was given away during the western party. This was the first western party ever on club penguin.
Band Instrument Hunt (July 21, 2006) – Band instruments were hidden throughout Club Penguin like the Easter egg scavenger hunt.
Sports Party (August 4, 2006) – The red face paint, blue face paint, and ice skates were given away. The first Club Penguin sports party.
Lightbulb Scavenger Hunt (September 15 2006) – Lightbulbs were hidden throughout Club Penguin before the opening of the Lighthouse.
Lighthouse Opening Party (September 22, 2006) – The lighthouse was released. The red sailor’s cap, and ligthouse shirt were given away.
First Year’s Anniversary Party (October 24, 2006) – Club Penguin’s first anniversary. The first year anniversary hats were given away.
Halloween Party (October 27, 2006) – The second Halloween party on Club Penguin. The wizard hat was given away with a Halloween catalog.
Lime Green Party (November 24, 2006) – Members were allowed to get the green cape, and newly released lime green color at the Dojo.
Christmas Party (December 22, 2006) – Snow covered Club Penguin. The Santa hat, and Santa beard were given away just like the 2008 Christmas party.
Winter Fiesta (January 19, 2007) – The first party of 2007 on Club Penguin. The maracas were given away at the decorated night club.
Festival of Snow (February 9, 2007) – The winter festival gave away the snowflake t-shirt, and the ice crown. Crowns were given away at a stand.
Saint Patrick’s Day Party (March 16, 2007) – The second Saint Patrick’s party on Club Penguin. The Saint Patrick’s day party hat returned to Club Penguin.
April Fools’ Day (March 30, 2007) – Blue propeller hats were given away. Tons of boxes were placed all over Club Penguin along with other jokes.
Pirate Party (April 27, 2007) – Penguins followed the treasure route to find Rockhopper’s sailor hats. They were given as free items.
Forest Party (May 18, 2007) – The forest opened on Club Penguin. Players followed a map to get there. The cove was under construction at the time.
Forest & Cove Party (May 25, 2007) – The cove is released. The whistle was at the forest. During the member party, the life ring was given.
Summer Party (June 8, 2007) – The second Club Penguin summer party was released. The free items were blue Hawaiian lei, green inflatable duck, ice cream apron, green sunglasses, and flower headress. This was the most items ever given away during one Club Penguin party.
Water Party 2007 (July 13, 2007) – Club Penguin’s first water party. The umbrella hat, and blue water wings were given as free items.
Camping Party (August 24, 2007) – Club Penguin released its first ever camping party. The marshmellow stick was the only free item.
100th Newspaper Party (September 14, 2007) – The 100th issue of the penguin times was released as always by Aunt Arctic.
Fall Fair (September 21, 2007) – Penguins earned tickets by playing limited time games to buy the feathered tiara, cotton candy, teddy bear background, circus tent pin, lollipop candy, paddleball toy, and the candy necklace. Many games were available.
Second Anniversary Party (October 24, 2007) – Club Penguin celebrated its 2nd anniversary and gave away the 2nd year anniversary party hat.
Halloween Party (October 26, 2007) – The third annual Halloween party on Club Penguin. The pumpkin basket, and Halloween scarf were the free items.
Western Party (November 13, 2007) – Club Penguin’s 2nd western party. The bandana, sunset background, and stagecoach background were the free items.
Coins for Change (December 14, 2007) – The introduction of Coins for Change to Club Penguin. Bells were given away to penguins there.
Christmas Party (December 21, 2007) – Club Penguin’s third Christmas party. The rare Christmas scarf returned, along with the reindeer hat, and Santa hat.
Fiesta Party (January 18, 2008) – The first fiesta party on Club Penguin was launched. The festive maracas were the only free item given.
Underwater Party (February 15, 2008) – Club Penguin was surrounded by water. Penguins could get the seashell belt, and yellow snorkel.
Saint Patrick’s Day Party (March 14, 2008) – The third Saint Patrick’s Day party on club penguin. The giant leprechaun hat was the free item.
Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt Party (March 21, 2008) – Penguins looked for eggs in the scavenger hunt. The green bunny ears were the only free item.
April Fools’ Day Party (March 28, 2008) – The red propeller cap, and the crazy swirly glasses were free items. Penguins could login as green puffles.
Pirate Party (April 25, 2008) – Penguins celebrated Rockhoper’s arrival. The red and black sailor shirt and sailor hat were the free items.
Medieval Party (May 16, 2008) – Club Penguin released its first Medieval party with some of the best decorations. The square tunic was the free item.
Water Party (June 13, 2008) – The free items were the yellow inflatable duck, ice cream apron, and shell necklace. Decorations were similar to last years.
Music Jam (July 25, 2008) – Member penguins met the Penguin Band. The music jam t-shirt, maracas were free items. Members could buy clothing from the snow forts, and go backstage and buy the items from the catalog there.
Paper Boat Scavenger Hunt Party (August 8, 2008) – Penguins looked for paper boats to receive the blueprints background of Rockhoper’s ship.
Penguin Games 2008 (August 22, 2008) – Penguins played games and supported the blue or red team. The red and blue face paints were the free items.
Fall Fair (September 24, 2008) – Penguins played games to earn tickets for items. Members could get the giant yellow sunglasses, teddy bear, and candy apple. Everyone could earn the giant green sunglasses, feathered tiara, cotton candy, paddle ball, lollipop candy, yellow balloon pin, and the carousel background.
Third Anniversary Party (October 24, 2008) – Club Penguin’s third anniversary. Penguins got the 3rd anniversary party hat and ice cream apron.
Halloween Party (October 29, 2008) – Club Penguin’s fourth Halloween party. Penguins found candy in a scavenger hunt to get giant pumpkin background. There was no free items. Members could visit a secret room and receive a lantern.
Dojo Grand Opening Party (November 14, 2008) – The Dojo was re-opened, and Card-Jitsu was released. Geta sandles were given away.
Coins for Change (December 12, 2008) – Penguins donated their coins to their desirable cause. Bells were free items like the year before.
Christmas Party (December 19, 2008) – Snow covered the island of Club Penguin like in 2006. The Santa beard and santa hat were the free items.
Club Penguin Puffle History:
Puffles Spotted (November 21, 2005) – Blue, pink, green and black puffles were spotted for the first time on Club Penguin. They are not sold in the Pet Shop yet however. Blue puffles were the first puffles spooted on Club Penguin.
Creature Naming Contest (December 7, 2005) – The creatures spotted on Club Penguin were named puffles. They would always be called puffles from this point on. The penguin who came up with the name puffle got 3 days of free membership, and 5000 coins. Puffles are captured for the very first time.
Puffle Roundup Introduced (December 14, 2005) – Puffle Roundup was created to help catch the puffles on Club Penguin. The bugs were fixed and the game was officially introduced to Club Penguin.
Pet Shop Opens With Sales (March 13, 2006) – The Pet Shop starts selling puffles. Members could buy blue, green, pink, and black puffles. They could buy 8 total puffles. Non members could only buy the blue puffle and could only have one of them.
Purple Puffle Arrives (August 25, 2006) – The purple puffle becomes available for purchase at the Pet Shop only for member penguins.
Puffle Walking Released (September 29, 2006) – Puffles are allowed to be walked with on Club Penguin.
Puffle Bathing Arrives (November 24, 2006) – Puffles become much cleaner with the new bathing feature. G’s Secret Mission reveals the origin of puffles.
Red Puffle Arrives (December 8, 2006) – Rockhopper brings the red puffle with him on the Migrator. It becomes available for adoption at the Pet Shop. Members can purchase up to 12 puffles and non members can now buy 2 puffles. Puffle names of other penguins can’t be seen because of penguins giving them bad names.
Puffles Play Updated (March 23, 2007) – Puffles have many new special ways to play. New ways were added to play.
Yellow Puffle Discovered (November 30, 2007) – The yellow puffle was discovered around the launch of the Stage. They are sold at the Pet Shop.
Green Puffle at Ice Rink (July 16, 2008) – A green puffle at the Ice Rink plays with the hockey puck. Penguins couldn’t play with the puck.

Case of the Missing Puffles (June 30, 2006) – The first PSA mission guide is released. Penguins help Aunt Arctic find her missing puffles.
G’s Secret Mission (November 27, 2006) – Agent G asked penguins to test his vehicle but it crashed. Penguins need survival skills to beat it.
Case of the Missing Coins (March 26, 2007) – Penguins helped get the the coins back from Gift Shop which were missing from the vault.
Avalanche Rescue (August 7, 2007) – Agent Gary asks to help with the saving the penguins from the avalanche at the ski mountain.
Secret of the Fur (November 5, 2007) – Help Gary find out who’s fur has been found. This opens a new series of missions with the polar bear.
Questions For a Crab (January 22, 2008) – Secret agents helped find the information needed from the crab on Club Penguin.
Clockwork Repairs (April 21, 2008) – Agent Gary needs help fixing the clock at the snow forts. The polar bear and crab are the culprits.
Mysterious Tremors (June 23, 2008) – Help find the causes of the mysterious earthquakes happening all over Club Penguin.
Operation Spy & Seek (October 6, 2008) – Gary needs help tracking down Herbert the polar bear and try to find his next plot.
Waddle Squad (December 29, 2008) – Help the PSA catch Herbert, only to watch him escape because of Rookie’s mistake of giving him the Spy Phone.
